::Bub's first gym class::

So I registered the three bigger kids for some summer activities a few weeks ago.  They're doing gymnastics (all three of them in separate classes), swimming lessons, and story hour.  I was hoping to get Port into T-ball, but the last week of registration (I don't know why I waited 'til the last week, I guess that's just how I like to roll) fell on the same week of Matt's surgery, and it slipped my mind.  Chloe had no interest in softball this year, so that was out for her.  It was no easy task trying to register 3 kids for 3 different gym classes and trying to get them on the same day of the week at the same time, and also swimming!  3 kids, all different swimming levels, at the same times.  When it was all done, I felt like I had just registered them for college!

I forgot the rules at the peak about 3 year olds and their Jr. Gym class.  You have to be 4.  Bubb won't be 4 until November, so he had to be in the parent/child class.  I wasn't too excited about that.  Port had the same kind of deal...he has too "advanced" for that class and was in with kids ranging all the way down to 18 months old.  Kind of a bummer.  Same kind of deal this go 'round with Bubb.  We're in there with lots of 2 year olds and he's a little advanced (if you want to call it that).  His teacher asked how old he was, and was like too bad, 'cause he's totally ready for Jr. Gymnastics!

But...
Bubb LOVES his class!  He had SO much fun!  His teacher sets up the class with some stations (each one has a different skill to practice) in a circle and we go around a few times.  He gets a little bored after a few times around.  So, when there's probably about 15-20 minutes left in the class, we go in the big gym and play on the trampolines and the pit and that kind of stuff-which he LOVES!!   He's pretty brave in there!  No fear running down the tumble track and jumping into the foam pit (he calls it "smarshmellies").

We go to our 3rd class tomorrow.  He gets SO excited to go to his gym class.  He LOVES it!!  I think he's excited to just be in gymnastics like the big kids.  He tells them all about it when he gets home.  Port tells him to do his best before he goes.  It's fun to go with him.  His class is at 5:30 (after Matt gets home), so it's just the 2 of us, and that's way fun.  Just me and Bubb :)

::water works::

It's been SO hot lately!  We broke a record yesterday (we had another water day that day too).  It was 97.  Hottest June 4th we've had since 1988. Today it was in the upper 40s, but that's just crazy Utah.

So on Saturday, it was pretty hot (90-something) so we got out the water stuff.  It was Ave's first pool party!!

I think she liked it
:]

Maybe someday we'll have a real pool, but for now, the kids get this sad little snap pool.  Ha!  I don't think they cared one bit!  They loved it.  They ran through it, splashed each other, jumped off the brick wall into it (the little brick wall), laid in it.  They had a ball :)  So that's good!  Cause we're not getting a real pool any time soon.

Look at Chloe and Mae-Mae...aren't they so cute???

These boys were ready for some dry towels and some warm sun.  Nice pose, Bubb!!

In other news...
Matt is one week post op today.  He's doing ok...not awesome, but ok.  He's gone to work this week (both days) and plans to keep going the rest of it.  The mornings are the worst for him-the most painful, so he leaves for work at about 8:30 (which I love!!) instead of 5:30 in the morning.  He's still pretty swollen, and still taking meds for pain (mostly tylenol and ibuprofen-he doesn't take the strong stuff too often).  We got a phone call from the dr. about his biopsy.  He called personally-not someone from his office, not his nurse, him personally.  That made me nervous in itself.  I held my breath as soon as he said he had the results of the biopsy.  He said we're all clear, and that they were just completely full of infection.  I exhaled.  Tears started to roll down my face.  I had to tell him thanks and hurry and get off the phone before I sounded too much like I was crying.  I was so nervous for 2 1/2 days.  I was so scared he had some kind of cancer.  Tonsils are lymph tissue...that kind of cancer spreads SO quickly!  I was just completely out of my mind scared.  I felt such relief when I got off the phone.  SO much relief!  The kind of relief that makes thou wanna raise your arms above your head and just exhale over and over again.  Now we just have some other issues with one side of his face/mouth to address, and we'll be doing much better.

I think he's feeling better...it's just a very sloooow recovery.  He has plans to golf on Friday, so hopefully he'll feel a big improvement by then.
:]

::last day of school::

May 31st was the last day of school!!!!
:]

Here's a little reminder of what they looked like on the first day of school...

And a couple of photos of Bubb and Ava on the first day just for fun (because they've changed a bit during the school year too :)  )
**Note to self:  get a photo of all the kids together on the first and last days of school**

They got out almost a whole week earlier this year that in years past, which was kind of awesome!  They only went a half a day, so Bubb, Ave, and I went and picked up the kids from school.  We took some potted flowers for the teachers...

This is Mrs. Coburn.  We LOVED her!  She was everything you would expect a kindergarten teacher to be.  She was so sweet and gentle, and happy and smiling all the time!  We just loved her so much.  Sadly, she's leaving Willard Elementary, and going to another school next year :(  We're glad Port got to be in her class.

Chloe had Mrs. Barker for 2nd grade.  We sure loved her!  I wasn't too sure at the beginning.  She was nice enough, just seemed kinda flakey.  But she turned out to be awesome!  She would tell me all the time how much she loves having Chloe in her class.  When I came to pick Chloe up, I gave her her little flowers and gave her a little hug and told her how much we've enjoyed her as a teacher this year, she got a little teary eyed when she was telling me how much she loved Chloe and how much she was going to miss her.  Aww!  What a doll!  We told her Chloe would visit next year.

It was kind of a long year.  It took a toll on our shoes and backpacks.
(Port had one pair of shoes that broke in half, and his Mario backpack's zipper did that split thing where it won't stay zipped.  And Chloe's shoes...well look at 'em!  And the Barbie hair fell off her backpack)
:]

Pokemon cards were a big deal this year.  All the kids were into 'em.  They loved to trade them, look at them, make up games with them, count them...you name it.  They were getting a little out of hand at Chloe's school-so much so that Chloe's principal said that they couldn't bring them to school at all anymore!  Anyway, they were (and still are) fun.

So no more school 'til the end of August!!!  Woo-Hoo!!

Time for a happy dance!!!

::anywhere but here::

Yesterday was not a fun day.

Matt and I spent a large part of it in day surgery.  He had his tonsils out.  It wasn't fun.  I don't handle these kinds of things all that well.  I tend to get really nervous, and all my nervous tends to come out in tears.  There were lots of tears.  I'm sure the nurse thought I was nuts.  She kept asking me if I was ok.   I'm sure she was thinking, "Jeez, lady, it's just tonsils!!"  I felt a little dumb.

What made it worse was that after the surgery was done, the dr. came to talk to me to tell me how it went.  He said it went well, and that those nasty things HAD to come out.  We had mentioned to him that we were a little nervous about something a little more serious might be going on other than just chronic tonsillitis and strep and that maybe they should be biopsied.  He said that he didn't think so but that he'd take a look at them while he was operating and had them out and see what he thought, but that a biopsy is likely not necessary.  When he talked to me post op, he said that he did want to have them biopsied.  I asked why.  He said he just doesn't' like them.  He wants them looked at closer to make sure there's not anything else going on.  I'm scared.  So is Matt.  Somehow it's more scary when a doctor wants a biopsy vs a patient asking for one.  We hope everything comes back normal.

He's doing well...I guess.  His throat is sore.  But he's feeling pretty good considering.  He says he can breathe better already, so that's good.

We have a few other issues to address before we're all done with him, and they could all be related to the constant infections in his tonsils, or no.  We don't know.  There's more work to be done.

Extra thoughts and prayers his way might be helpful.
:)

::Port's kindergarten program::

A couple of weeks ago, we went to Port's end-of-the-year kindergarten program.  The theme was "See Us Shine."  They sang a bunch of songs, did some awesome sign language (especially Port :) ), some actions, a little dancing (not Port), and showed us all a bit of what they learned during the year.  It was fun.  I have to say my favorite part was hearing him sing his ABC's backwards!  I just love that :)

Here's a little vid of the morning performance (which is kind of their dress rehearsal).  The video is mostly for my own documentation and for the grandparents who didn't get to attend, so if you don't want to watch all 8 1/2 minutes of it (which is actually condensed), I won't be offended :)  Port's on the first row of the risers.  Second from the left.
(It was me, Bubb and Ave.  My videoing skills aren't that great anyway, but they're especially not that great when I have Ave pulling on my pants and dropping things that I have to pick up.)

It was a fun night.  I love watching anything the kids do.
We appreciate all the grandparents who came to support Portie :]

::Chloe's triathlon::

I forgot to post about Chloe's triathlon at her school!!

Remember field day when you were little??  Weren't those the funnest days of the whole year??  Chloe's school had a triathlon for their field day.  It was biking, running and an obstacle course.  You could do it alone or with a buddy.  Chloe brought home the form and asked if she could do it with her friend Regan.  So, we texted her mom, and they were all for it.  Regan's mom said that she's a good little runner, and I said that Chloe wouldn't mind doing either, but she'd be totally happy to bike, so it worked out just perfect!!

So, Portie, Bubb, Avie, and I went to her school at about quarter to 9 to drop off her bike and to get a good spot to watch her.  When I got there I learned that the place I had to drop off he bike was on the whole other side of the school from where I parked.  Now I just had to figure out how to push a stroller and walk a bike over to the other side of the school and keep track of Portie and Bubb.  I thought maybe Port could push Ava in the stroller and I could ride walk the bike.  I wasn't looking forward to that though, because Bubb cries if he has to walk more than 5 steps, and Port tends to try to do tricks with the stroller.  Thank goodness, a friend of mine showed up and parked right behind us!!  Her husband was with her (who is also named Matt).  She volunteered him to take her bike over for me.  What a guy!

Here's our girl!  I'm not totally sure she knew it was a race.  She was sort of just out for a Sunday ride.  She's just not very competitive-unless its a board game (but that's a whole 'nother story).
 Cute little thing.

And this is her little buddy, Regan.  Aren't they cute??
She came over to play after school, and we all went to Perry Ice for snow cones :]
