Since I'm pretty behind on this blog, I thought I'd just consolidate into months instead of individual posts. I knew that was coming. I just don't have time to post everything-especially when I get so far behind. Plus instagram makes me bloglazy, but I'll try to get over that.
So January handed us a very snowy month!! The kids loved it!! They sledded a lot. They wanted to be out in it all.the.time. Me, not so much. It was cute in December, but by the end of January, I was pretty sick of it-especially when we still had a good 2 feet on our lawn!
Anyway, they especially loved the really high snowbanks. The one is taller than our mailbox!
(Yes, Port needs some boots! I had to hear about it every time he came in from outside too..."Moooooom!!!"
This day, the kids were out playing, and I was in with Ave, and Matt got home from work. He watched them sled down the one snowbank (in front of Chloe in the photo), and next time I looked, I saw him sitting on the sled on top of the snowbank! Oh my gosh it was SO funny! I wish I had video-ed it! We all held our breaths when he went over the edge.
Sad little Mae-Mae inside. Too cold for teeny girls.
Bubb had a field trip to the public library with his preschool class. I love that about his preschool. They go on a field trip once a month. It's just fun. Ave likes it too-see who's at the front of the line??
The heard a story, learned about how the library works, how to treat books, and all that good stuff.
Me and by Bee-Bob. :]
Oh, man!! Maybe the funnest thing about January!! I took the big kids snowboarding! I checked them out of school early, and went up to Wolf Mountain. We rented boards and boots for the kids (first and last time for that). It took forever, and Chloe's board had issues-it wouldn't even go down hill! Anyway, once we got her straightened out, she flew down, and probably wished she had her other one back.
They did pretty awesome! Chloe is a little bit of a perfectionist by nature, so she got pretty frustrated. After about her 5th or 6th fall she would start groaning and making very dramatic scenes when she fell. I had her sit for a bit to regroup. Sometimes you need that :] Like you have to watch everybody else having fun for a sec and wonder what you're so upset about, and then give it another try...know what I mean? Anyway, she tried a few more times, fell on her hands, and said her wrists hurt, and didn't want to do it again. I'm glad she tried it though.
Port, did A W E S O M E !!!!! It's so funny because I wasn't going to take him because I thought he was too little. I wasn't sure if he'd like it or have the leg strength. He did so great! He just loved it! When he fell, he just hopped back up and kept going. It was way fun!
Here's a pretty awesome vid of Port boardin'. Ignore the really annoying voice that's is SO loud! I hate my voice on recordings.
When we got done, we took some goofy pictures in the parking lot and then stopped to get a slurpee (yes a slurpee!! we love 'em). We decided snowboarding is SO fun, and we definitely want to go again (and again and again .....) Chloe was a little sad afterward. She wished she would've kept trying and not gotten so frustrated. Next time, Chloe :] Matt was bummed he missed it. He stayed home with the littles. He face timed us a bunch while we were there...so that was fun. He got to watch them a little. Next time I hope the 4 of us can go, and maybe we can go on a lift.
And that was our January.
